Founders and Associates

Holly Lewis

Co-founding Partner

BSc (Hons) DipArch MArch ARB

Holly co-founded We Made That in 2006 and is a trusted voice in shaping healthy, fair and well-designed places. She cares deeply about locally-informed and impact-driven outcomes.

She is a registered architect and affiliate member of the Landscape Institute. She has led a unique range of urban projects for the practice, from pioneering industrial intensification work through to comprehensive high street regeneration projects. Holly advocates for community involvement within the design process, empowering women in the built environment and equitable city-making.

Holly is Mayor’s Design Advocate for the Greater London Authority and is a Design Council Expert. She has also contributed as a national High Streets Task Force Expert. Currently, she is the Town Architect for the London Borough of Hackney, chairs the Croydon Design Review Panel, and is a member of the Thanet Design Review Panel. Additionally, she acts as an external examiner for the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.

She was shortlisted for the AJ Emerging Woman Architect of the Year Award 2012, is a former trustee of The Architecture Foundation and lectures internationally.

Oliver Goodhall

Oliver co-founded We Made That in 2006 and brings focus to planning for, and delivering, meaningful economic, social and environmental change in the places that need it. He is dedicated to delivering public good, with an attention to detail in addressing strategic and complex briefs.

He has a multidisciplinary skillset with degrees in both design and architecture. He has led innovative urban scale masterplans, ambitious development frameworks and flagship cultural infrastructure projects. Oliver places great value on independent, trusted and thorough intelligence in guiding and making meaningful change.

Oliver is a member of a number of design review panels for local authorities in London and the South East. He is appointed to the Greater London Authority’s Specialist Assistance Team to help with the shaping and realisation of Mayoral projects across the capital and lectures internationally.

Eve Avdoulos

Eve is an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in anthropology and urbanism. She has a passion for creating more equitable places through participatory research and design. She is particularly interested in the social and spatial patterns of cities, and the processes by which they are shaped and transformed.

Eve has extensive experience in leading research projects that have informed innovative strategies and policies across health and wellbeing, education and social infrastructure, as well as designing evaluation and learning programmes to measure the impact of place-based initiatives.

Thomas Aquilina

Senior Associate

Thomas is an architect and academic dedicated to building communities of radical thought and progressive practice.

Thomas’ work investigates local understandings of spatial justice in London and spans different forms of practice to include advocacy, design, pedagogy, policy and research. He is a co-director of Spatial Justice at Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London's 'Just Environments Cluster’, co-director of the New Architecture Writers programme and a co-founder of the publishing collective Afterparti. He regularly lectures and convenes events around themes of race, identity and urban space.

Tom Fox

Tom is an urban designer with a track record in delivering regeneration programmes and leading the development of innovative spatial strategies. He places public value and equality at the centre of projects, and enjoys working across scales and disciplines.

Tom has experience across policy, regeneration and urban design including leading the Placemaking Team at London Borough of Bexley. Prior to that he worked at Hawkins\Brown Architects. He has led projects from the earliest stages of strategy and business case development into delivery and through to the stewardship and maintenance of places.
